The Heritage International School Fall Youth
Retreat.
Rick and Janie finally got there on Saturday
afternoon after many flight changes.  We really
enjoyed our time with these young adults as we
taught that God has a plan and a future for each
one of us.  There were more than ten countries
represented at the retreat.
History

This trip was very special because we got to stay for a full four weeks.  One
thing I enjoyed the most was getting to know the missionaries much better.
We got to start out with a youth retreat for the Heritage International
School followed by a two day Leadership Training Seminar with the more
advanced pastors that WGM has been training.  Next we had a weekend
retreat with the missionaries and then went on a safari to Murchison
Falls.  The next week we were able to spend some time with each of the
missionaries individually and get to know their hearts and ministries
better.  The last week in Uganda we helped the mission field host a team
from Georgia/Florida.  A couple of them stayed in our home and the rest in
other missionary homes.  Rick and Janie were responsible for driving them
around to the different areas where they would minister.  It was fun
getting to know each of them.  Lastly we got to go check out the school on
Buvuma Island and see the progress that has taken place since March.  It
was a very productive time and we are so grateful that God has blessed us
with this ministry.
We had  the honor of worshipping at
the Christian church service on the
campus of Kampala International
University.  It is a Muslim -owned
university that allows the pastor,
Kennedy, to preach the gospel  every
Sunday morning.  He has about 700
students who regularly attend.
Uganda trip:
October/November 2006

Uganda and Kenya

2007 and 2008
2007 has been a very exciting year with lots of
growth and change for Timothy International.  We
started the year at Westover Fellowship in Amarillo,
TX.  Rick served as Interim Pastor until June.  We
really enjoyed the opportunity to serve those
precious people.
In February we were blessed to present Timothy
International to the Knox City/ Benjamin United
Methodist Churches and visit our dear friends, the
Trimbles.
In March we had a three week trip to Uganda.  We
met several of the World Gospel Mission directors
there including Terry and Karen Duncan, the
Regional Directors for Africa.  We bid farewell to
Mary Ann upon her retirement and greeted new
friends, Dr. Rick and Teresa, LeeAnn, Jeannie, and
Erica.
In April Janie spoke at the Women's conference in
Canadian, TX and we participated in Missions
Sunday at First United Methodist Church of
Plainview.
May brought us to Booker, TX to present Timothy
International and to preach for the Faith Promise
Sunday.  Also, We brought an update to the great
people of Faith United Methodist Church of Vernon,
TX.  We spent the last week at the NW Texas Annual
Conference in Amarillo.
In June, we said goodbye to many great friends at
Westover Fellowship, Rick did the Men's Retreat at
First United Methodist in Canadian, TX and preached
at Follett United Methodist Church. At the end of the
month we moved to Grandview, Missouri.
July brought a new house to set up and visits to
Duke University and SMU Perkins School of
Theology to visit and encourage the COSS students.
In August we had missionary friends  and pastor
friends come to visit.  We went to Means Memorial in
Andrews, TX to share and pray for the ministy there.
September was the month to travel.  We went to
Boise City and Kenton Oklahoma, as well as
Wellington, Lubbock and Amherst Texas to share
our ministry.
We left October 1st for Nairobi, Kenya.  Our friends,
the Duncans, agreed to show us the work they are
involved with in Kenya.  We went to several places
and were very impressed with all that the
missionaries have accomplished.  We then flew on
over to Uganda and spent several days in Arua.  We
were honored to help train the pastors in Nebbi and
really get to know our good friends, John and Erica.
We returned to Kampala and did the missionary
retreat for the Uganda field.  What a blessed life we
have.  We returned to the US  at the end of the
month.
In November our families came for visits.  We
enjoyed their company and then left again for Kenya
right after Thanksgiving.  We spoke at the Africa
Gospel Church Pastors conferences in Kericho and
in Bomet.  We were hosted by the Duncan's again
and enjoyed getting to be with them.
It has been an exciting year.  Thank God for His
calling and purposes for us.
In 2003 St. Matthew United
Methodist Church of Lubbock
needed to build.  They gave the
first $10,000 they raised for the
building as a first fruits offering
to Uganda.  The ministry in
Uganda was expanding at a
phenomenal rate and they
needed to build real buildings for
their pastor training classes.
This ministry has started over 120
churches and they are currently
training approximately 185
pastors.
It took two years of prayer and
hard work to secure the title to
the land.

Previous Pastor Training Center/Church
Pastor Rick and Janie
joined the  WGM
missionaries and Pastor
Martin in March of 2006 to
dedicate the building as a
church and training center.
Joyfully singing and worshipping God for their
new church building.

Training
Center and
Church
2006
Another church/pastor training center is on Buvuma
Island in Lake Victoria. The building is used throughout
the week as a school.  Various churches have been
paying the tuition for 70 orphans which allows them to go
to school, have a school uniform, and  a cup of porridge
at noon. The school has grown within 5 years to almost
300 students.  They are expanding as quickly as they
have funds to do so.
Buvuma Island School on Lake Victoria
We will continue to take money to keep this project
going.  Believer's Chapel in Gage, Oklahoma gave
funds to put on the roof and Nancy Schunke along
with others gave funds to help put up the walls. We
want to help the school each time we go because many
people we share this ministry with have been
concerned for these children and want to help.
In November 2006, the addition was completed.  Rick and Janie got
to go with the Florida/Georgia team to see the addition and the kids
on Buvuma Island.
